I would like to get some opinions on entering 2 of your own dogs in the same trial, you hear a lot of folks saying you are competing against yourself but my opinion is you have 2 different style of dogs and you think they can both compete and place.

Of course you're competing against yourself.....in a sense.
If you want to place dogs, take your chances. Sometimes the judges will like "something" you're running. Sometimes not.
Also, if you have to make a long drive, I'd rather enter 2 and take my chances rather than 1, get picked up, then turn around and drive home.
I've seen people enter as many as 4-5. The "shotgun"approach !

Hey,
There's nothing fair about trials. Unless you own one dog run what you can afford to enter.
I run in 3 out of the 4 formates, and I run all six of my females if thier ready to go that week.
It's no different then prof. handlers, handling 20 dogs at the trials. |

I only keep males and right now I have 6 and 4 are all age with 2 being derby's and I trial all of them when they are ready, and if I don't think a hound will trial he cant stay at my place I also hunt them as a pack as much as I can during hunting season. Why keep something you can't use?

Not a much better feeling than having 2-3 dogs in a winners pack that were born and raised at home....

2 ??? I may enter 14 in the same class. Sometime's the younger judges can stay up closer to them and then I can get a report on which is the better dog. George
